2024/2025 Projects accomplished

 

  1. Global Grant - We were the international partner with the RC of Armenia in Colombia to support the Federation of Coffee Growers with a mobile medical/dental and Firefighters in 12 municipalities. 

 

 

 

  1. We helped with Improvements to the dining hall in the Tenderfoot School in Kenya – this was a global grant led by the Cataraqui club. We had previously supported building this school.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. We supported a Wash program in Ghana by putting in toilets and wells in 4 separate locations. These were located in schools and health care facilities. This significantly improved their sanitation and hygiene and gave them access to safe water.

  1. Workshop completion in Livingstone, Zambia. Totally funded by the Rotary Club of Kingston.

  1. We supported a Healthy Heart for Living project in Popoyan, Colombia by helping to provide  medical equipment for cardiac surgery.

 

 

  1. We supported an English Language Training project in Brazil

 

  1. We provided 15 school desks for students in Tanzania. 3 students per desk + 45 students

 

  1. We provided Mi-Desks to students in South Africa. They are locally produced from recycled materials. They are a wheelie schoolbag with a desk and chair. They have a solar powered light and charging port (USB) and weigh 2.4 kg and can be wheeled from home to school and back.

9. Menstrual Hygiene Kits – in the DRC on Idjwi Island. Two projects - 

Partnering with local charity “Days for Girls” we purchased 90 kits sewn by local women 

Holiday Season Campaign with the Joint International Committee.  We provided155 kits!

 

 

  1. Jotham, Our Starfish Boy in Tanzania. He is at the Timothy Massawi School – Bright Future School.  He is in his 4th year of 7. His report cards show that he is doing well.  4 other students are being sponsored by club members.

  1. Reconciliation with life and the environment in Colombia - a Global Grant with the RC of Miramar Pines in Florida. The project consists of tree planting, pollinator protection and water conservation in La Ciebas River Basin which provides water via aqueducts to about 400,000 persons in Nieva.

 

 

       12. A Spina Bifida project – Medellin, Colombia. Help improve the quality of life for children with spina bifida at an education and Community based rehab centre.

  1. Helped to support an X-ray machine in Kampala, Uganda.

  • Cold Saves Lives – Pasto Colombia - Three special biomedical equipment, hypothermia generating, integrated amplitude electoencephalography and cerebral saturation monitoring using near-infrared spectroscopy

  • Equipment to safely treat blood for transfusions – Tunisia - Acquiring equipment to safely treat blood for transfusions, a critical need for patients in the Nabeul region of Tunisia, where access to blood, especially in emergencies is currently very limited.
