Ecuador

From the Middle of the Earth to the Edges of Our Comfort Zones

Our International Travel & Hosting Fellowship (ITHF) adventure began in Colombia. We arrived in Quito, where Alonso greeted us with hugs and instantly turned our group into a travelling family of Rotarians and friends.

Quito dazzled us with vibrant markets, golden churches, and a visit to Mitad del Mundo, where we stood with one foot in each hemisphere, perfectly balanced. Flying over the Andes with Cotopaxi glowing above the clouds, we continued on to the Galápagos Islands. There, giant tortoises ambled past, flamingos posed elegantly, marine iguanas basked on lava rock, and a “simple” boat ride became the legendary Galápagos Massage. Snorkelling with turtles, rays, and a cheeky sea lion made every bounce worthwhile.

Peru

Picchu, our guide Franklin brought Inca history to life, revealing a civilization built in harmony with the earth. The journey ended with the quiet mystery of the Nazca Lines, birthday Pisco Sours in Paracas, and the coastal energy of Lima, where surfers greeted the dawn as we headed home.

This ITHF journey was more than iconic sights. It was kindness from strangers, laughter shared among Rotarians from different countries, and the joy of travelling together, turning moments into memories and strangers into friends. Rotary at its very best.
